FAU's Tom Herman is On3 Group of Five national head coach of the week

Each week, On3 selects national head coaches of the week.
For Week 7, FAU’s Tom Herman is our Group of Five head coach of the week.
After entering its matchup against USF as a three-point underdog, Herman led the Owls to a 56-14 win over the Bulls.
The former Texas and Houston head coach now has FAU off to a 2-0 start in league play in his first year with the Owls, even after losing starting QB Casey Thompson to a season-ending injury. The two straight conference wins have come after a narrow 23-17 loss to a Power Five opponent, Illinois, Sept. 23.
“Just really proud of not just the win but the way that it happened,” Herman said after the game. “The fact we were down so many players on defense and guys just continued to raise up and offensively to do their part in keeping the defense off the field and keeping them fresh.”
Honorable mentions
Air Force’s Troy Calhoun: Air Force beat previously 5-1 Wyoming, 34-27. The win improved the Falcons to 6-0 and propelled them to a No. 22 ranking in the latest AP poll.
