One of the stranger events you’ll ever see at a college football game happened on Wednesday evening at Peden Stadium (Athens, Ohio). The Athens Fire Department was using a chainsaw to cut into the roof of the credential booth, while fire alarms went off in the press box in the middle of the Ohio vs. Eastern Michigan game. According to reports, lights and alarms were going off for 45 minutes, which prompted multiple firetrucks to surround the west gates of Peden Stadium.

The press box had to be evacuated. Here’s a brief clip of the fire alarms going off.

Ohio whipped Eastern Michigan 35-10 on Wednesday night. And the Bobcats moved to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the MAC. Dynamic dual-threat quarterback Parker Navorro had a career-best passing day, throwing for 277 yards, while tossing in an interception. He also had a big night on the ground, with 13 carries for 106 yards and four touchdowns.

Ohio receiver Coleman Owen had eight catches for 139 yards. The Bobcats continue to remain in the hunt for a berth in their conference championship game. The Ohio defense had four takeaways against an EMU team that had seven turnovers coming into Wednesday night. Eastern Michigan quarterback Cole Snyder threw three interceptions but threw one on three consecutive drives. And he also fumbled once when he was sacked.

Those turnovers eventually led to 21 points for the Bobcats. And the backbreaking play came when Tank Person snagged an interception at the EMU 25 for his second pick of the night. On the next play, Navarro scored on a 21-yard touchdown run to make it 21-7 Bobcats.

Up next for Ohio, they’ll face off against the Toledo Rockets. That one will be on November 20th. Then on November 29th, they’ll also face off against the Ball State Cardinals.
