5-star Alabama tight end commit Jaleel Skinner visiting Miami
Greer (SC) IMG Academy tight end Jaleel Skinner has been committed to Alabama since early October, but he’s reportedly taking another official visit this weekend — to Miami.
According to 247Sports, Skinner is among the group of prospects visiting Coral Gables this weekend, the final one before Wednesday’s National Signing Day.
Skinner is the No. 65 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 1 tight end and the No. 10 prospect in Florida.
On3’s rankings are significantly higher on him, rating him as a five-star prospect and the No. 24 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle.

Skinner chose the Crimson Tide in October over offers from Miami, Florida, Florida State and Texas. He took official visits to all but Florida State over the summer and then visited Tallahassee in September. Under new NCAA rules, though, prospects can take a second official visit to a school if a new coaching staff is in place from when they took the original visit.
Miami hired Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal this week, and the Hurricanes have moved quickly to bring prospects to campus before Wednesday. Among the other visitors are four-star wide receiver Kevin Coleman and four-star EDGE Nyjalik Kelly.
Jaleel Skinner Scouting Summary
A high ceiling-low floor prospect with immense physical traits. The most athletic tight end prospect in the 2022 cycle, perhaps by a significant margin with unique dimensions and considerable twitch. Sports a near 7-foot wing-span and sub-4.6 speed. Has the physical ability to be a significant mismatch in the passing game with his straight-line speed and potentially large catch radius. Raw technically and needs to continue adding polish to his game as a pass-catcher and route-runner. Not a pure ball-winner but has shown flashes of high-point ability in games and 7-on-7 settings. Also has some underrated explosive power and core strength. Was a late transfer to IMG Academy as a senior and working into the offense at receiver. Shows his physical traits on the basketball court where he delivered some thunderous dunks and emphatic blocks as a junior. —Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings
