Wilson speaks on programs involved
In previous interviews with On3, Caleb Wilson spoke on some of the schools involved in his recruitment.
KENTUCKY: “It’s a basketball school. It’s a blue blood,” Wilson told KRS’s Jack Pilgrim.” I don’t think it gets much better. Great fanbase, a great community, and Lexington is a great city. I’ve been there twice, once with Coach Cal and then with Coach (Mark) Pope. My visit was great. I got to go to practice and the football game. They almost beat Georgia. I was on the edge of my feet, ready to rush the field, but that didn’t happen. I was able to build a good relationship with the coach.”
UNC: “They have a really rich basketball culture and they and Duke have the best rivalry in college basketball. I just really like their coaching style; Coach Hubert (Davis), even though he is a really nice guy, he holds his players accountable. They like my versatility, especially on defense. They talk a lot about defense there.”
TENNESSEE: “When I went on my unofficial there their culture really stood out to me. Coach (Rick) Barnes really prides himself on defense and he is really good with his offense ideas and plays. Our relationship has continued to grow, we talk frequently, at least two or three times a week. I worked out with Dalton Knecht a couple of days ago. Coach set him up to do very well, and put him in good positions. Obviously, he is a really good player too, but set him up to play really well.”

ALABAMA: “Their message to me is that they develop forwards at a high level. They recently had guys like Brandon Miller and Noah Clowney. Their play style also plays heavily into my thoughts on them. I feel like I would thrive in certain systems. Spacing the floor and getting up a lot of threes and finishing at the rim is very attractive to me.”
Caleb Wilson scouting report
“Caleb Wilson has a great frame with good length and naturally fluid athleticism. He plays well in a phone booth, has efficient movements in tight spaces, and shows footwork to create space with the ball in the half-court.
Defensively is where he is currently the most interesting. Listed in the 6-foot-9 range, he has the ability to slide his feet along the perimeter or switch down a lineup and defend on the block. He does a good job guarding off the ball and plays aggressively in the passing lanes.
Wilson needs to continue getting stronger, which will help with his base and balance, specifically on the offensive end. He is athletic around the basket. He has go-to comfort over his left shoulder with patience. He can push the break and he plays with pace. Wilson will need to continue working on his jump shot. While he can create opportunity and make shots in the middle game, his shot flattens out and gets offline from beyond the arc.
Wilson’s play style is trending toward a very valuable archetype toward the highest levels of basketball.
