Five-Star Plus+ OT David Sanders Jr. at The Horseshoe for Ohio State's game against Indiana
Three months after committing to Tennessee over Ohio State, Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day School Five-Star Plus+ offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. is at The Horseshoe for the Buckeyes’ showdown with No. 5 Indiana.
On3’s Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong reported Saturday morning that the elite pass-protector would be making a return trip to Columbus this afternoon. Offensive line coach Justin Frye is Sanders’ lead recruiter and the Buckeyes were a “close” runner-up to Tennessee back in August.
Back in May at the On3 Elite Series in Nashville, Sanders dove into his finalists. He had this to say about the Buckeyes.
“I would say they were always in the mix for sure, because I liked Ohio State. Obviously they’re known for making great offensive tackles … seeing that as a young kid, like I can go there and do the same thing. Ohio State got the bump early because I had only been there one time until recently. Ohio State is different, but they’ve done a phenomenal job, coming up there for the spring a couple of times and being around that program … I just think Coach (Justin) Frye is an amazing offensive line coach, he’s shown that he can develop guys and push them to the next level. He’s very passionate in everything that he’s doing … I feel like his coaching style and my playing style can mesh really good.”

5-star QB commit Tavien St. Clair has been working all along to bring Sanders to Ohio State
Sanders’ visit comes at the same time that Bellefontaine (Ohio) Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Tavien St. Clair is making a return to campus. St. Clair, the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2025 class, has been committed to Ohio State since June 2023 and previously played a major role in trying to bring Sanders into the fold.
St. Clair discussed his relationship with Sanders with Lettermen Row earlier this year.
“Man, me and David have talked there’s just nothing like Ohio State. The Brotherhood, the culture and the excellence that we have here. He’s gonna see that and he’s seen that. We’ve already talked about what we want and what our goals are. I just want somebody in the trenches, along with the other guys that are committed, that are just going to work beside me and really just have my best intentions and I’ll have their best intentions.”
