Five-Star Plus+ OT Immanuel Iheanacho down to 4 schools

Five-Star Plus+ offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho is officially down to four schools in his recruitment, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Friday.
Among the remaining contenders are LSU, Oregon, Penn State and Auburn. Iheanacho told On3’s Chad Simmons last week those were the four schools he was focusing his attention on, and they are the only programs scheduled to receive official visits from him.
Once those trips are over, he plans to announce his commitment decision on August 5.
Heading into the month, the Ducks the school at the top of the list.
“Oregon is the top school, but these official visits will play a big part in my final decision,” Iheanacho told Simmons. “My relationships with the coaches at Oregon is what has them on top. I like the staff a lot and we can talk about anything. My second visit there was great. I loved my first one too. My parents also love Oregon, so it helps to get their opinion. The connection with the coaching staff is really the biggest thing for me with Oregon.”
After his trip to see LSU over the weekend though, the Tigers made up significant ground. And they’re pushing hard for that No. 1 spot.
“I can see myself there,” Iheanacho said. “I want to be objective on every visit, but this visit really helped LSU. LSU is right there with Oregon after this visit. It is a great place.”
He will be at Auburn this weekend, then the two Big Ten schools — Penn State and Oregon — will get the final two chances at him.
Iheanacho on the Tigers and Nittany Lions
While both Penn State and Auburn have some work to do if they want to catch the Ducks and Tigers, Iheanacho sees them both as places he could fit at the next level.

“This will be my third time to Auburn and I love Coach Freeze and Coach Thornton,” he told Simmons. I love talking to both of them. I think I surprised them with this official visit because I have not talked to them as much as some other schools, but I have always liked Auburn. The coaches are great and I have personal relationships with some players on the team because they are from Baltimore. I just want to get back down there and learn more about the school.”
Penn State, meanwhile, has been recruiting him as long as anyone. And the relationships he has with their staff are as good as any.
“Penn State is a school that has been on me from the beginning. The relationships with Coach Trautwein and Coach Poindexter are strong. I have visited them four or five times, I know the coaches really well and it is closer to home. They really set their athletes up for success and treat them well, so I have always liked Penn State. This time, I want to learn more about the academics because I have not gotten the full breakdown in the past.”
