The night went from bad to worse for the Florida Atlantic Owls in their Week 3 matchup against the Clemson Tigers. Florida Atlantic is trailing Clemson 27-0 midway through the second quarter and in need of a major momentum swing in order to have a chance of stealing a win on the road. Unfortunately, they will now have to do that without starting quarterback Casey Thompson.

Thompson was knocked out of the game by Tigers defensive lineman Cade Denhoff. As the former Texas Longhorns and Nebraska Cornhuskers quarterback was leading the Owls on their best drive of the game, he took a huge shot from Denhoff. The hit drew a personal foul, roughing the passer penalty. But unfortunately, the damage had already been done as Thompson struggled to get back to his feet. Ultimately, the Florida Atlantic quarterback had to be helped off the field and has since been replaced by backup quarterback Daniel Richardson. The injury is currently listed as a right knee injury.
