WATCH: Florida catcher Sam Roe drills Georgia Tech freshman Emma Minghini in ear with throw
The 2022 NCAA Tournament is underway for women’s softball across the country and today, Georgia Tech freshman Emma Minghini caught an unexpected throw from Florida catcher Sam Roe right in her ear. Luckily for Minghini — she had her helmet on. Check out the throw below as Roe attempts to throw out a runner at second base but ends up misfiring and drilling Minghini instead.
Thankfully, as the replay above shows, Minghini was okay and not injured after getting drilled pretty hard.
The second replay above shows the footage a bit better, but the video helps to explain the full action of the play a little bit better.
The Florida Gators currently lead the game 2-0 in the third inning, but it’s delayed due to weather. Reagan Walsh drilled in the two runs for Florida in the bottom of the first inning.
