Florida flips 4-star CB CJ Bronaugh from Nebraska

Winter Garden (Fla.) Windermere four-star cornerback CJ Bronaugh has committed to Florida, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
His decision comes less than 24 hours after he backed off his longtime pledge to Nebraska on Tuesday evening, ending a commitment dating back to November 26, 2024. Bronaugh is now set to stay in-state and play for the Gators at the next level. He took an official visit to Gainesville at the beginning of June and then returned again for an unofficial visit earlier this week.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder made an early call in favor of Nebraska last fall. His recruitment proceeded to skyrocket and other programs remained involved in his process, primarily in-state Florida and FSU.
The Gators began a stretch of official visits for the blue-chipper and have now pulled off a big-time flip. Corners coach Deron Wilson kept the foot on the gas alongside head coach Billy Napier.

“It was a good visit,” Bronaugh told Gators Online following the OV. “I learn something new every time … They were letting me know how much of a priority I was for them and how I would be a perfect fit.”
Bronaugh is the No. 106 overall prospect and No. 14 CB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 12 player in Florida.
Scout’s Take on CJ Bronaugh
Upon making a big jump in the On300 rankings earlier this year, Bronaugh earned high praise from On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power:
“CJ Bronaugh is one of the fastest prospects in the cycle,” Power wrote. “I think he would contend as the fastest prospect we’ve seen to this point in the cycle, at least among blue-chip types. State champion in the 100 and 200-meters and has already ran a 10.3 time in the 100-meters as a junior. In addition to the high-end speed, he played really well as a junior, came down with six interceptions and looks to have solid size. You look at his elite athleticism, combined with the ball skills, those are attributes we value at the corner position.”
