Florida looking to flip Nebraska 4-star RB commit Kewan Lacy
Earlier this summer, Florida had its two running back commits in what ranked as a top-five class in the On3 Industry Football Team Recruiting Rankings.
On his official visit to Georgia though, four-star North Palm Beach (Fla.) Benjamin School running back Chauncey Bowens flipped to the rival Bulldogs, leaving a hole in UF’s class. The Gators already have a commitment from four-star Kahnen Daniels, but Napier and Co. want to add another back.
On Thursday night, the Gators offered Nebraska four-star running back commit Kewan Lacy, setting him up as one of their top targets leading into the Early Signing Period.
The 5-foot-11, 195-pounder is the No. 349 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
On3, however, ranks him much higher than the other three recruiting services. In the most recent On300 rankings, he was tabbed as the country’s No. 165 overall prospect and No. 13 running back. Lacy has been one of the nation’s biggest risers early on during his senior season.
“Lacy has shown early on in his senior season that he can absolutely carry the load in the run game when he steps onto a college campus,” On3 national scout Cody Bellaire said. “His ability to burst and accelerate through the hole while maintaining excellent body control and wiggle makes him a terror for opposing defenses. His leg drive and physicality essentially makes him a battering ram with the ball in his hands and being able to finish and run behind your pads at the next level is a very translatable skill.”

Through six games this season, Lacy has totaled 859 yards from scrimmage on just 86 touches and has found the end zone nine times.
Gators will have a tough fight on their hands to flip him
Despite Nebraska’s slow start on the field this season, Lacy hasn’t shown any signs yet of wavering in his commitment. When he pledged to the Huskers in late June, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett that his relationships with the coaching staff played a huge factor.
“What stood out the most about Nebraska was the people for sure,” Lacy said. “They love football down there and the coaches I connect with on a deeper level outside of football. It’s like family over there and it’s a NFL system there. Half the coaches have been in the NFL to coach and that’s somewhere I would like to be. I feel Coach EJ can develop me right as a young man and a player and I picture myself doing great things.”
Lacy is one of seven four-star commits for the Huskers, whose class currently ranks No. 23 nationally.
