Columbia (S.C.) Heathwood Hall Episcopal three-star cornerback Onis Konanbanny has flipped his commitment from Tennessee to Florida.

Pledged to the Vols since Aug. 23, Konanbanny is now the latest prospect to flip to Billy Napier and the Gators late in the 2025 cycle. He took his first visit to Gainesville in November, then returned in December, and that was a key moment in this recruitment.

“That second visit was when Florida really opened my eyes,” Konabanny told On3. “When I was down there for the official visit, it was nice, but I was still thinking Tennessee then. I almost didn’t go on the official visit.

“When I went back a couple of weeks later, I listened to the people at Florida more and I got a better feel for what the program is about. It came down to their honesty, how the relationships grew so fast and the vibe there with the coaches.

“Florida pushed for me and made me feel needed. That made a big impact on me.”

Konanbanny is the No. 409 overall prospect and No. 41 CB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 11 player in South Carolina.

Billy Napier and Will Harris drew praise from Konanbanny

The 6-foot-0.5, 175-pounder was locked in with the Vols after he committed in August. Florida worked their way into the race late and Will Harris led the way.

“Coach Harris has great wisdom and he knows how to coach,” Konanbanny said. “He is smart, he can develop players and he is easy to relate to. He is a younger coach, he understands the era we are in and his resume speaks for itself.”

Like he is Harris, Konanbanny is a believer in Billy Napier.

“Coach Napier truly buys into the program. He gets his players to buy in too. He is all in with his players and you can see how hard the team plays for him. The team plays for him no matter what. Coach Napier is a stand-up guy who cares for his players.”

“Florida is on the up and up. This class will be a national championship class. DJ Lagway is the leader and he is the truth. Florida is about to do big things.”

And the new Gator sees Napier winning big at the Swamp in the near future.
