Jalen Farmer

Once you know, you know. That was the case for Covington (Ga.) Eastside offensive lineman Jalen Farmer.

The Florida Gators offered the 6-foot-5, 325-pound interior line prospect on Aug. 1. Fast forward to Sept. 10, and he’s now a Gator commit.

Farmer, who also had offers from East Carolina and Georgia Tech, announced his commitment to the Gators via social media Friday afternoon.

Jalen Farmer earned Florida offer

The Gators’ offer came after Jalen Farmer impressed at the Florida Friday Night Lights camp. After seeing him in person and reviewing his film, Florida liked what they saw enough to offer him a scholarship.

At the time, Farmer talked about how impressed he was with offensive line coach John Hevesy. He said he learned a lot from the coach at the camp and loved his fired-up attitude along with the way he taught some of the finer techniques.

On3 currently does have a ranking on Farmer. A full evaluation is coming soon when rankings are updated in October and throughout the rest of the recruiting cycle.

Farmer is the Gators’ third offensive line commitment in the 2022 class. He joins four-star tackle Tony Livingston of Tampa King and three-star tackle David Conner of Deerfield Beach, Fla. Farmer is the first Gators’ line prospect that projects on the interior at either guard or center.

With the addition, Florida has 14 commitments for the 2022 class and is ranked as the No. 17 class in the country.

The pledge from Farmer also moves Florida into the No. 6 spot in the SEC behind Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M and Missouri. With more room to grow in the 2022 cycle and plenty of On300 prospects still on the list, there is a belief the Gators could compete for a top-10 class by the time the early signing period arrives in December.
