Florida shows superb sportsmanship after walking off Chinese Taipei for Little League World Series crown

The Little League World Series often highlights some of the best elements of sports as one of the most diverse competitions in the world, and this year’s tournament was no different.
After Florida knocked off Chinese Taipei in thrilling, walk-off fashion, a handful of players and coaches from the winning side displayed some tremendous sportsmanship.
And you could tell just how much the game meant by watching the reactions after the fact.
Florida cruised home for the game-winning run on the back of a costly mistake by Chinese Taipei, one coaches and players from the winning team were quick to console the losers over.
One coach went toward the center of the diamond and immediately hugged a Chinese Taipei player who appeared on the verge of tears; another Florida player then comforted the Chinese Taipei third baseman with a similar embrace. As the camera panned, numerous Chinese Taipei players could be seen watching in stunned disbelief.
Check out the heart-warming display of sportsmanship below.
So what happened, exactly, that led to such a moment of distress for Chinese Taipei? Well, the game was tied 1-1 in the bottom of the eighth inning with a runner on second base.

And Florida laid down a beautiful bunt up the first base line.
As the pitcher came over, the first baseman was also charging down hard. That left no one covering first base, as the second baseman cleared out and went to cover second base, instead of first.
The ball sailed into the outfield as the runner rounded third and headed home well ahead of the throw from the right fielder, game over.
It was a moment that few on the Florida side will likely ever forget. And it might take a minute for Chinese Taipei to do just that. Something tells us, though, that the sportsmanship shown in the wake of a potentially humiliating loss will be much appreciated.
