Marianna (Fla.) High On300 running back Amari Clemons announced his commitment to Florida State on Monday morning. He was back in Tallahassee over the weekend.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Clemons becomes commit No. 6 for the Seminoles in the 2026 class, adding to a haul the On3 Industry previously ranked No. 10 nationally at this point in the cycle.

The four-star Clemons chose FSU over an offer list that included Auburn, Florida, Miami, Louisville, Ole Miss, Illinois, South Carolina and NC State.

“I feel like it’s right for me,” Clemons said. “It’s close to home. I have support from my hometown, support from my family.

“I feel like it’s right, not just the football part but the academic part. I think it will be great for me. I want to succeed in helping turn the program around.”

Florida State coaching staff made Clemons feel comfortable

From head coach Mike Norvell to new offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn to running backs coach David Johnson, Clemons feels like this staff and program will get the best out of him.

“Coach Gus he’s going to flip the program around with his offensive scheme,” Clemons said. “Coach Norvell always has the fire in him. Doesn’t matter what the record is. He’s always got a certain drive to push the guys he’s coaching to another level.

Both of those guys together that’s a dynamic duo. I don’t think you can go wrong.

“Me and Coach YAC’s relationship, I’ve been going there since the beginning of my sophomore year,” Clemons continued. “Me and those guys how our relationship came over time is big. I feel like it’s like family there. Every time I go there it don’t feel like a recruiting process or nothing like that.”
