Nebraska picked up a big commitment from Winter Garden (Fla.) Windermere four-star cornerback CJ Bronaugh back in November. The rising blue-chipper remains in the fold for the Cornhuskers, but others are trying to change that.

In-state programs are the notable culprits, including Florida State. The Seminoles continue to keep contact with Bronaugh, and on Monday, a trio of coaches paid him a visit.

Defensive coordinator Tony White, as well as DBs coaches Evan Cooper and Pat Surtain Sr., all spent some time with the 6-foot-1, 175-pounder:

Bronaugh has been to Tallahassee this spring and is set to return this summer for an official visit on the weekend of June 13. Florida (May 30) and Penn State (June 20) are also set to receive OVs, along with the Huskers (June 6).

“Florida State has done a good job recruiting me and always talking to me, I don’t know where FSU would stand, but they are up there,” Bronaugh told Warchant last month.

He is now the No. 101 overall prospect and No. 15 CB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 12 player in Florida.

Florida State has already acquired quite the defensive back haul in 2026. Vero Beach (Fla.) four-star athlete Efrem White, Homestead (Fla.) Northwestern four-star safety Tedarius Hughes, Miami Barbara Goleman four-star safety Darryl Bell, Tampa Plant four-star ATH Darryon Williams and Severn (Md.) Archbishop Spalding three-star CB Sean Johnson are all committed to the Noles.

Head coach Mike Norvell and his staff currently have the nation’s No. 15 class, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The class features nine total commits.

Scout’s Take on CJ Bronaugh

Upon making a big jump in the On300 rankings earlier this year, Bronaugh earned high praise from On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power:

“CJ Bronaugh is one of the fastest prospects in the cycle,” Power wrote. “I think he would contend as the fastest prospect we’ve seen to this point in the cycle, at least among blue-chip types. State champion in the 100 and 200-meters and has already ran a 10.3 time in the 100-meters as a junior. In addition to the high-end speed, he played really well as a junior, came down with six interceptions and looks to have solid size. You look at his elite athleticism, combined with the ball skills, those are attributes we value at the corner position.”
