Mobile (Ala.) Williamson athlete Jaylen Scott, Class of 2027, has committed to Florida State, according to Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman.

Scott is in Tallahassee for FSU’s junior day this weekend and is now the first member of its 2027 recruiting class.

Currently unranked, Scott plays on both sides of the football. He lines up as a defensive back in addition to playing receiver for Williamson.

“Love it here at FSU,” Scott wrote on X earlier on Saturday.

Head coach Mike Norvell and the Noles offered Scott on Dec. 21. He visited last fall and returned this weekend, where he made the call in favor of the ACC program. Scott also held a Power Four offer from UCF.

Scott was a part of one of Alabama’s top high school football programs in the 2024 season. Williamson finished with a 10-2 record and checked in as the No. 33 team in the state, according to the On3 Composite Rankings.

More on FSU Recruiting

Despite the shaky season, Florida State actually finished the 2025 recruiting cycle on a hot streak, landing multiple commitments during National Signing Day last month. That streak has continued into January, too.

The Noles’ 2025 class ranks No. 20 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Things are off to a good start in the 2026 cycle, too.

Six soon-to-be seniors are already in the mix for the Noles, none bigger than Newbury Park (Calif.) four-star quarterback Brady Smigiel, a top-50 recruit and No. 6 QB in the nation. He committed back in June and is one of four blue-chippers in the class to date.

Tampa Plant four-star athlete Darryon Williams is a top-100 recruit, while Vero Beach (Fla.) four-star ATH Efrem White is just outside at No. 102 overall. The DB room could be loaded in the future for FSU, as the class also already includes Miami Barbara Goleman four-star safety Darryl Bell and Homestead (Fla.) South Dade three-star safety Tedarius Hughes.
