Florida State HC Mike Norvell in Georgia to see coveted 4-star WR commit CJ Wiley
One of the top high school football games across the nation is going down in Georgia on Friday night as Gainesville hosts Milton.
The showdown between the On3 Massey Ratings Peach State top 25 programs is a big one as the playoffs loom. Multiple future Division I prospects are taking the field, drawing a crowd that includes Florida State head coach Mike Norvell.
The Seminoles’ skipper arrived to Gainesville via helicopter and will get a look at four-star wide receiver commit CJ Wiley, one of Milton’s stars on the offensive side of the ball.
Wiley has been committed to FSU since June 25. His decision came as a surprise, as both Georgia and LSU looked to be trending better than the ACC school in the lead-up to his commitment. While he remains pledged, Wiley is coming off a visit to Georgia last weekend, as the Bulldogs are one of many trying to lure him away from Tallahassee.
“I think the biggest thing is the familiarity with some of the staff members,” Wiley’s father Chuck said of what stands out about the Seminoles to On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “They offered CJ in the ninth grade. They’ve been around for a minute. Coach Norvell has been to the school several times. Coach (Alex) Atkins has been to the school a couple times. It’s been a big recruiting effort. Coach (Ron) Dugans has definitely been down there too.”
After racking up over 1,400 yards and and 14 touchdowns as a junior in 2023, Wiley is crushing opposing defenses again as a senior. Entering Friday night’s big game against Gainesville, Wiley has caught 30 balls for 577 yards and six TDs and has been a big reason as to why Milton is currently 6-0 and a national top-25 program.
Wiley is the No. 103 overall prospect and No. 13 WR in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 12 player in Georgia.
