Florida State quarterback controversy: DJ Uiagalelei, Brock Glenn both listed as starter vs. Clemson
Florida State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei facing off against his former team in Clemson was a huge storyline in the ACC during the preseason. Now it appears as though that matchup might not take place.
Uiagalelei and Brock Glenn are listed as co-starters this week for the Seminoles. The updated Florida State depth chart has DJ Uiagalelei OR Brock Glenn starting on Saturday against Clemson.
Uiagalelei has struggled throughout the year, including in FSU’s loss to SMU this past weekend. The senior was 12-for-30 passing against the Mustangs for 222 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions.
He was replaced by Brock Glenn late in the game, but the redshirt freshman didn’t perform any better, going 0-4 passing.
DJ Uiagalelei did suffer a finger injury late in Saturday’s loss, but Florida State coach Mike Norvell said on Monday that he was ready to make a change at quarterback either way after Uiagalelei’s pick six.
Norvell was asked on Monday about the plan at quarterback for the Clemson game.
“DJ is something we’re going to evaluate throughout the course of the week and see where it goes from there,” Norvell said. “In all reality, I said it after the game, after the interception… I decided I was gonna make the change. Obviously, DJ did have the injury there but we just wanted to see that opportunity for Brock to go in and have a chance to execute.

“Obviously, those guys both have to go and prepare at an elite level this week and we will see how things play out throughout the course of what this week holds.”
In the loss, Uiagalelei completed five of his first six passes to lead the Seminoles to a touchdown on their opening drive. However, Uiagalelei failed to find the end zone again until midway through the third quarter.
Now, Florida State must decide who will lead its offense moving forward. On Saturday, the Seminoles will face off against Clemson at 7 p.m. ET. The game will air live on ESPN.
