FSU AFI2

After an ugly year on the field for Florida State, the momentum around the program’s 2025 recruiting class was minimal.

The ‘Noles had 10 prospects decommit between September 8 and this week’s Early Signing period, including 5-star offensive lineman Solomon Thomas, top-50 EDGE Javion Hilson, four-star receivers Malik Clark, CJ Wiley and Daylan McCutcheon, as well as quarterback Tramell Jones. They went from a top-10 class at the beginning of August to barely inside the top 40 heading into December.

But after coaching changes at multiple spots and a few huge wins in the Early Signing Period, FSU is climbing the rankings again. Following commitment from Milton (Fla.) Pace four-star EDGE Tylon Lee and four-star Tampa (Fla.) Gaither EDGE Jesse Harrold, they’ve moved from No. 27 to No. 19 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Lee was pledged to the Rebels since Oct. 27, when he flipped to the SEC program from in-state UCF. Now, Lee is once again set to stay in the Sunshine State, though this time his destination is Tallahassee.

“They didn’t have the season they wanted but I’m looking forward and we’re going to change that,” Lee told On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “The record doesn’t define people and the fans they came out and watched them. That’s real love.”

Lee and Harrold give FSU two big defensive pieces to build around

Those two additions, along with holding onto four-star defensive lineman Kevin Wynn, are huge for the Seminoles.

Lee is the No. 251 overall prospect and No. 29 EDGE in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 36 player in Florida.

On3 ranks him much higher than other recruiting services, however, as he checks in at No. 71 overall, No. 7 at the EDGE position and No. 10 in Florida in the 2025 On300.

He is the sixth prospect FSU has flipped since National Signing Day on Wednesday and seventh in the past two weeks counting Harrold, who decommitted from LSU late last month.

The two latest additions push the Seminoles to 20 total commitments and 18 from the high school ranks in this cycle.
