Florida State vs. Miami odds: Early point spread released on Seminoles, Hurricanes
One of the ACC’s best rivalries is set to recommence on Saturday, with Florida State and Miami ready to do battle again. The early point spread indicates it should be a good one.
Florida State will open as a 14-point favorite over Miami, according to lines released by FanDuel. The over/under is set at 50.5 points for the contest.
The Seminoles are the program with everything to lose, courtesy of an outstanding season so far that has the team in contention for not just an ACC title game berth, but also a potential College Football Playoff berth. The year began with a bang, a 45-24 win over a very good LSU team.
It hasn’t always been quite that smooth sailing the rest of the way — FSU survived a tight contest against Boston College and an overtime game against Clemson — but it’s clear the Seminoles have one of the most talented teams in the country.
Star receivers Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson have been lights out for quarterback Jordan Travis when healthy, probably a big part of the early point spread.
And Travis has been more than capable himself, in the Heisman Trophy conversation at various points this year. They should get a fair test from the Hurricanes, though.

Miami has been quite good with veteran quarterback Tyler Van Dyke at the helm, and the Hurricanes have shown the ability to win close games, winning in overtime against both Clemson and Virginia in recent weeks, but Hurricanes fell to 6-3 on the season on Saturday after falling to N.C. State 20-6 under the lights in Raleigh.
If the defense can play well, the Hurricanes might just be able to make a compelling game of it with the ‘Noles, at least more than the early point spread might suggest.
Both teams have already clinched bowl eligibility.
The series has been relatively even recently, though there have been some spurts by both teams. Florida State has won the last two games, including a 45-3 thumping just one year ago.
But Miami has won four of the last six. Stretch it back a little further and Florida State has won nine of the last 13.
Miami leads the all-time series 35-32, with the first game being played back in 1951.
