Former Alabama defensive lineman Khurtiss Perry is eying an ACC program after entering the transfer portal. Perry is visiting Virginia Tech on Tuesday, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

“Former Alabama defensive lineman Khurtiss Perry is visiting Virginia Tech today, his NIL agents at @APSportsAgency tell @On3sports. Former top-100 prospect has three years of eligibility remaining,” Nakos posted on Twitter.

Khurtiss Perry is visiting Virginia Tech after entering the transfer portal last month. He spent two seasons in Tuscaloosa, redshirting in 2022, before appearing in one game last season.

Perry played high school football at Pike Road (AL) where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 66 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He finished as the No. 10 DL in the class and the No. 4 player out of the state of Alabama.

As a senior in high school, Perry recorded 76 tackles, 22 sacks and 30 quarterback hurries. He originally chose Alabama over offers from Auburn, Clemson and Texas.

Adding Perry would be a big pick up for a Virginia Tech program that is on the rise under head coach Brent Pry. The Hokies finished the 2023 season with a 7-6 record and expectations are high ahead of the 2024 season.

UCLA transfer quarterback Collin Schlee committed to Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech has done a solid job of adding players from the transfer portal this offseason. That includes recently adding former UCLA quarterback Collin Schlee to its roster.

Schlee was very productive for Kent State in 2022 before transferring to UCLA and being passed up on the depth chart in 2023.

As a third-year player in 2022, Schlee accounted for 2,109 passing yards and 13 touchdowns, to go against just five interceptions. He also ran for 492 yards and four scores.

Even when he hasn’t gotten a ton of run at quarterback Schlee has found ways to get onto the field thanks to his athleticism. In four seasons in college he has run for 1,129 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Schlee now enters a Virginia Tech quarterback room that was still looking to find a backup behind starter Kyron Drones.
