Maryland has picked up a big-time offensive lineman out of the transfer portal. Former Buffalo and Rutgers offensive lineman Isaiah Wright has committed to the Terrapins, he announced Tuesday morning on Twitter.

Wright is heading to Maryland after starting 11 games for the Bulls last season. He is a versatile offensive lineman who started games at both left tackle and center in 2023.

Isaiah Wright also had an excellent 2022 season for Buffalo, starting all 13 games at left tackle. He was a key piece up from for an offense that ranked in the top five in the MAC in scoring offense (28.5 points per game), total offense (377.2 yards per game) and passing offense (235.3 yards per game).

A member of the class of 2020, Wright was ranked as a three-star recruit and the No. 115 defensive lineman in his class, per the On3 Industry rankings. He attended St. Peter’s Prep High School where he helped his team to an 11-1 record as a senior.

Isaiah Wright did not receive any playing time during his two seasons at Rutgers, prior to entering the transfer portal for the first time. He then excelled at Buffalo, before entering the transfer portal once again.

Now Wright is heading back to the Big Ten to play for Maryland. The Terrapins are coming off of an 8-5 year in 2023, which included a 31-13 victory over Auburn in the Music City Bowl to end last season.

Former Maryland OL Maximus McCree committed to Washington

While Maryland added an offensive lineman on Tuesday in Isaiah Wright, last week a former Terrapins offensive lineman committed elsewhere.

Former Iowa Central Community College tackle Maximus McCree has committed to Washington, via the NCAA Transfer Portal. McCree spent two seasons at Iowa Central before playing one year at Maryland in 2022. However, McCree opted to transfer back Iowa Central ahead of the 2023 campaign.

Now, McCree will take his talents to Washington. During his three years at Iowa Central, McCree was named a JUCO All-American twice. Additionally, he was a two-time First Team All-ICCAC member.

Maximus McCree was the No. 41 overall JUCO player and No. 5 offensive tackle in in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
