Former Clemson cornerback and current Atlanta Falcons DB AJ Terrell is a big believer in the Tigers heading into Saturday’s showdown with No. 1 Georgia.

Terrell told reporters on Wednesday that he has Clemson pulling off the upset in Atlanta. He joked at first that he expects a blowout.

“Fifty to zero, yes sir, fifty to zero,” AJ Terrell said of his score prediction in a video sent out by Peach Bowl, Inc. and the Aflac Kickoff Game.

He did later clarify that he expects a close game, but he does have Clemson coming out on top.

“I’d definitely say 28-21 Clemson, around there. A tight one,” Terrell said.

Terrell’s younger brother, Avieon Terrell, is a starting cornerback for the Tigers. AJ, who is a Georgia native, never got to play against the Bulldogs during his college career. He’s happy for his younger sibling that he is getting the opportunity to do so as a sophomore

“It’s big. It’s a big rivalry. I watched a lot of the games growing up,” AJ Terrell said. “I just knew for a fact I was going to have that opportunity when I got to Clemson, like ‘Oh, we’re going to see Georgia one of these years.’ But it never happened.”

Clemson made the College Football Playoff all three seasons Terrell was there, including winning the national title in 2018. In 2017, the Tigers lost to Alabama in a CFP semifinal game, before the Crimson Tide went on to beat Georgia for the national championship.

Clemson blew out Alabama in the 2018 national title game, with Terrell’s pick-six in the opening minutes setting the tone for the rest of the night. In 2019, the Tigers lost to LSU in the national championship game, which ended up being the final college game of Terrell’s college career.

Clemson and Georgia most recently played in 2021, with the Bulldogs earning a 10-3 victory in Charlotte. Now they will play in Atlanta on Saturday, and Terrell is an honorary captain for Clemson for the game.

“We could’ve seen them my freshman year if we’d have beat Bama. But it didn’t end up happening,” Terrell said of Georgia. “But it’s a special game, big rivalry game. There’s nothing like college football, so we know it’s going to be a sold-out crowd, a lot of energy, a lot of emotion, a lot of fans. I can’t wait to see the atmosphere again.”
