Cincinnati (Ohio) LaSalle four-star running back and former Indiana signee Gi’Bran Payne will announce his college decision Friday.

Notre Dame is the favorite to land Payne after he visited the school this weekend, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. But Kentucky is also in the mix.

He is the No. 334 overall recruit and No. 27 running back in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Payne signed with the Hoosiers during the early signing period but was released from his National Letter of Intent in March.

In February, Indiana running backs coach Deland McCullough left for Notre Dame.

“As a person (and athlete), I thrive and prosper off of communication and genuine relationships,” Payne said in a social media statement last month. “With that being said I am looking to explore my options to ensure I am making the best decision for me and my future. I am grateful and appreciate all the consideration and opportunities that were given by the staff and coaches at Indiana University.”

Notre Dame has one running back commit in the 2022 class in Denison (Texas) four-star running back Jadarian Price. The Wildcats do not have a running back verbal.
