Former Miami quarterback N’Kosi Perry has been named the starting quarterback for the Florida Atlantic Owls, according to Ralph D. Russo of the Associated Press.

In February 2021, Perry announced he would not be participating in spring football for the Miami Hurricanes, and then announced his decision to enter the transfer portal. He announced his decision to transfer to Florida Atlantic via his Twitter page:

“I want to thank the University of Miami, Mark RichtManny Diaz & the entire coaching staff for the opportunity to be apart of their program,” Perry wrote on a graphic posted to his personal Twitter account announcing his transfer to FAU. “In these last four years, I have gained a new family in my teammates and the fans. Miami has given me memories and bonds that will last a lifetime. For that, I will forever be grateful to the U! “Having said that, I’ve decided to continue my football career at Florida Atlantic University! #GoOwls”

Perry beat out last year’s starting quarterback for FAU, Nick Tronti, fellow transfer Michael Johnson, Jr., and Willie Taggart, Jr. for the job, according to Reese Furlow of the Palm Beach Post.

The former Miami signal-caller seems to be enjoying the new offense with the Owls, “I feel like I fit in perfectly,” Perry said after the first week of camp. “The offense we run I feel like is a mix of everything, and I’ve been playing football for a long time now and done a mix of everything.”
