Harris played high school football at West Bloomfield High School (MI), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 2,339 overall recruit and the No. 131 ranked quarterback in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Cal’s quarterback room also features Fernando Mendoza and Chandler Rogers, who Harris will now be competing with under center.

Mendoza started the final eight games of the season last year for the Golden Bears and was named a Pac-12 Offensive Freshman Of The Year honorable mention. Meanwhile Rogers joined Cal this offseason after stops at Louisiana-Monroe and North Texas, throwing for a career-high 3,382 yards and 29 touchdowns last season for the Mean Green.
