Former Seton Hall guard Kadary Richmond has officially committed to St. John’s after entering the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. As one of the most highly coveted players in the portal this offseason will stay in the Big East and join forces with Rick Pitino and the Red Storm.

“They were big on life after basketball and player development,” Richmond told ESPN. “That stood out to me, the way they kept it real from day one. They are going to allow me to showcase my ability and become a better basketball player and person. I’d like to make a long run deep into the NCAA tournament and eventually win a national championship. I’m ready to get to work and see what Coach Pitino has in store.”

Richmond is a Brooklyn, New York native, but played high school basketball at Brewster Academy before transferring to South Shore in Wolfeboro (NH). Where he was a four-star prospect ranked the No. 78 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

But after entering the transfer portal this offseason, Richmond was a four-star college prospect ranked as the No. 34 overall player and the No. 3 point guard available in the portal this offseason according to On3’s College Basketball Transfer Portal Top Player Rankings.

Richmond spent his freshman season at Syracuse, where he averaged 6.3 points, 3.1 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game in his 28 game appearances (three starts) before transferring to Seton Hall. Where his career would truly blossom.
