Texas Tech transfer Pop Isaacs commits to Creighton

Former Texas Tech point guard Pop Isaacs has made his decision after entering the NCAA transfer portal, committing to the Creighton Blue Jays ahead of the 2024-2025 season. Heading to a new school with two years of eligibility remaining after spending the first two seasons of his college career with the Red Raiders.

Isaacs played high school basketball at Coronado in Las Vegas (NV), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 92 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle and the No. 15 ranked point guard, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

After being ranked the No. 1 player in the state of Nevada and earning the Southern Nevada Offensive Player of the Year Award, Isaacs made Texas Tech his school of choice where he made an instant impact.

He started in all but one of his 25 game appearances in his first season with the Red Raiders, making it on the Big 12 All-Freshman Team after averaging 11.5 points, 2.7 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.0 rebounds per game. He missed seven games missed due to injury, but was still able to lead Texas Tech with 62 made 3-pointers as a deadeye threat from behind the arc. Also ranking third in scoring among freshmen in the Big 12 after scoring in double-figures in 16 games with two 20+ point scoring outings.

Isaacs took a leap in his sophomore season for Texas Tech last year, leading the team in scoring with 15.8 points per game which tied for fifth in the Big 12. Earning All-Big 12 Third-Team recognition in a season where he also notched career-highs with 3.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game to go along with his scoring output.

He started in all 34 games of Texas Tech last season, eclipsing the 20-point scoring mark in nine games highlighted by a career-high 32 points in a win over No. 20 BYU which sparked a four-game stretch where he’d average 24.3 points per game

Isaacs helped lead the Red Raiders to an NCAA Tournament appearance, eliminated in the first round by NC State in a game where he scored 12 points.
