Following his junior season of high school football, four schools are standing out to Hoover (Ala.) three-star wide receiver Jonah Winston.

Winston, the younger brother of NFL quarterback and Florida State Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston, told On3 that Florida State, Auburn, UCF and Ole Miss are his ‘favorite’ schools at the moment.

The 5-foot-10, 153-pound Winston led Hoover in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns this season with 38 catches for 542 yards and three scores. He also carried the ball 21 times for 152 yards and five touchdowns.

Hoover finished the season 10-3 after falling 17-7 to Phenix City Central in the Alabama 7A state semifinal game. Winston helped lead the Buccaneers to several notable wins, including victories against Hewitt-Trussville, Alabaster Thompson, Birmingham Vestavia Hills and Opelika. Hoover finished the 2024 season ranked No. 7 in the Alabama On3 Composite High School Football Team Ranking.

Last February, Winston spoke with Warchant about growing up around Florida State football and his relationship with Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell.

“The one thing that makes FSU more unique than the other schools is I basically grew up at FSU,” Winston said. “That’s where the game really started for me.”

His older brother, Jameis, won the Heisman Trophy and BCS National Championship in 2013 at FSU. Since moving onto professional football, Winston has also earned NFL Pro Bowl honors and led the league in passing yards in 2019.

Winston is the nation’s No. 393 overall prospect in the 2026 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the No. 57 wide receiver in the class and the No. 15 recruit from the state of Alabama.
