4-star cornerback Jahlil Florence down to five schools
After Oregon’s coaching change, San Diego (Lincoln) cornerback Jahlil Florence decided to wait out the Early Signing Period and re-assess his options. Now, with a little less than a month until the February signing period, Florence has a new list of top schools.
The four-star, who ranks No. 151 nationally, according to the On3 Consensus, will choose between Miami, Oklahoma, USC, Oregon and Florida. On3’s own rankings are quite a bit higher on Florence than the rest of the industry, pegging him as the No. 71 prospect in the 2022 cycle.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder committed to the Ducks in August over offers from a number of Pac-12 programs, including USC, Utah, Cal, Arizona and Washington. But when Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal left the Ducks for Miami after the Pac-12 Championship, Florence’s recruitment was turned completely on its head.

He quickly received an offer from USC but later affirmed his commitment to the Ducks for the time being. But with the coaching shakeup, he ultimately decommitted. Oklahoma quickly jumped in with an offer two weeks ago, and both Miami and Florida are in the mix. His connections with Cristobal can’t be taken lightly, but staying close to home at USC will also be appealing. He saw the Trojans the weekend before the Early Signing Period
His high school teammate, Jalil Tucker, opted to recommit to the Ducks and signed on with new head coach Dan Lanning. He currently has a visit to Florida scheduled for Jan. 14 and could visit Oregon again with the new coaching staff in place.
