Four-star junior guard Jaeden Mustaf names top 5 schools
Jaeden Mustaf, a four-star combo guard in the class of 2024, has announced his top five schools: Florida State, Indiana, Miami, NC State, and Virginia Tech.
The 6-foot-6 junior out of Matthews (N.C.) Carmel Christian also received offers from Georgetown, Georgia, Rutgers, and others.
Out of his five finalists, Mustaf has officially visited Florida State and unofficially visited Virginia Tech and NC State. He plans to re-visit NC State unofficially again on April 16th. He does not currently have a timeline for a decision.
Mustaf ranks as the No. 44 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings — the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies (ESPN, 247Sports, Rivals, On3). He’s also the nation’s No. 3 combo guard and the No. 5 player in the state of North Carolina.
Mustaf breaks down his top 5 schools
Florida State: “The only school on this list that I have officially visited. Amazing atmosphere, love the coaching staff and they showed myself and my family a lot of love during the visit. They love big guards and that is what I am.”
Indiana: “I think I would fit right in there. Great basketball fans and blue blood school. Great relationship with coaches, they keep in contact with me a lot and I could really see myself being successful there.”
Miami: “Their play style is kind of like NC State with the way they let their guards play. Great coaching staff, and obviously they win. Another place I think I would really fit in.”

What Mustaf is looking for in a college program
“I’m looking for a family-oriented program,” Mustaf said in a previous interview with On3. “A place where I am able just to be myself. I want to go somewhere I can be coached hard, improve my game, and win all at the same time.
“I think being able to play the one, two, or the three at the next level, not being restricted into playing any one way. I’ll want to play in a set system but with the freedom to make plays.”
Scouting Report
“Jaeden Mustaf is a big-bodied wing who plays with a straight line burst. He is a jack-of-all-trades type of wing in that he can handle, shoot, and pass, playing multiple positions on the floor. Mustaf is a good team defender and rebounds well for his wing position. The jump shot needs work as it is streaky and a bit of a push shot right now, but he makes it some. As a long-armed 6-foot-5 wing, there are many things teams can do with Mustaf, and he is a triple-double threat each time he steps on the floor. His father, Jerrod Mustaf, was a first-round NBA draft pick in 1990.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
