Franklin (Tenn.) offensive tackle Fisher Anderson has committed to Stanford. The 6-foot-7, 270 pound senior chose the Cardinal over North Carolina, Northwestern and Virginia.

He took visits to all four schools in June and those led to an early July decision.

“I made the decision to commit silently a couple weeks after the June visits,” said Anderson. “The environment was a relaxed one at Stanford. It felt like home for me. Those things helped me make my decision.”

Each school offered the high academic opportunity Anderson was searching for, but Stanford stood out in a different way. That and the people around him in Palo Alto made a difference.

“I chose to play at Stanford University because of the unique opportunity. I will be surrounded by the highest caliber athletes and thinkers in the world. Stanford gives me the best opportunity to change the world and shine the light of God.”

The Fit

If you meet Anderson and speak with him for a short time, you likely will think of him as a Stanford type of student-athlete. Anderson is very mature, he is focused on academics, and he really fits what David Shaw and the Cardinal staff looks for each cycle.

As a player, Anderson is a tackle with a great frame. He is still growing into his body so look for him to add weight, strength and mass to his body when he gets on campus. The coordination for his size is a strength. He plays with good balance and he has great length at tackle. He has shown good flexibility and could be a fit at left or right tackle at Stanford.
