Four-Star OT Monroe Freeling names top 7
Four-star offensive tackle Monroe Freeling of Mount Pleasant (Sc.) has narrowed his list to seven schools—Notre Dame, Clemson, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Georgia, and Florida.
The 6-foot-7, 290 pounder went in-depth on his finalists.
Notre Dame
“Before Coach Freeman got the job, I really wasn’t too sure about Notre Dame,” Freeling said. “After seeing and feeling the energy that he has created there, they really took a jump in my recruitment. I really like Coach Hiestand and he has a resume to speak for him.”
Clemson
“I’ve had a good relationship with them ever since they offered me last June,” Freeling said. “Coach Swinney doesn’t seem like he is slowing down any time soon. I have a good relationship with Coach Austin, and I am excited to see how he does this season with new coaching role.”
Miami
“Miami always seemed interesting to me just because of the history of the school’s football program, as well as their academics,” Freeling said. “They recruited me very lightly before Coach Cristobal got the job. But as soon as he got the job, he and the staff spared no time to hit me up. I really enjoyed the energy they have up there; it’s really unique. Coach Cristobal being an OL guy really helps too, he’s a great guy and coach; Coach Mirabal too!”
Michigan
“Michigan won the Joe Moore award last year, which is impressive,” Freeling said. “Coach Moore came to my basketball games last season which was pretty cool. I have yet to get up there, but it’s one of the schools I will get up to first when I start traveling again.”

Ohio State
“I have recently started growing a relationship with Coach Fry and Coach Solllene,” Freeling said. “They are really cool coaches. Their resume with producing players into the draft is impressive too. They are another school I will need to get up to when I start traveling again.”
Georgia
“They were one of the first schools to offer me back at the beginning of my sophomore year,” Freeling said. “Though they have gone through coaching changes, they hired coach Searels who I had a good relationship with when he was at UNC. Not to mention them being national champions!”
Florida
“I really enjoyed my time in Florida when I went down there,” Freeling said. “The campus was really pretty and they have great academics. Coach Sale and I have a good relationship and I think that Florida is heading in the right direction!”
Monroe Freeling ranks as the No. 59 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting sites. He also tabs in as the No. 6 offensive tackle and the No. 1 player in the state of South Carolina.
