4-star quarterback Eli Holstein invited to Elite 11 Finals
Zachary (La.) four-star quarterback Eli Holstein has flown under the radar when it comes to the country’s top signal-callers. He is considered to be outside the elite group that features names like Malachi Nelson, Arch Manning and Nico Iamaleava. But the 6-foot-3, 225-pounder has drawn serious attention after his decommitment from Texas A&M. That includes Alabama, which is considered the leader to land Holstein, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).
He showed exactly why the Crimson Tide are so high on him Sunday at the Elite 11 Regionals in Las Vegas. Holstein showed off his athleticism, running a 4.64 40, notching a 38.3-inch vertical jump and running a 4.19 shuttle. In the process, he earned an invitation to the Elite 11 Finals this summer in Los Angeles.
Few invitations mean as much as the Elite 11 Finals do to high school quarterbacks. The event, which will celebrate its 23rd year in 2022, brings together the country’s elite signal-callers for four days of competition and training from former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer and a host of others.
Elite 11 alumni include Carson Palmer, Andrew Luck, Matthew Stafford, Tim Tebow, and more recently Trevor Lawrence, C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young and more. Last year’s Elite 11 Finals featured 13 of the top 20 quarterbacks in the final 2022 On3 Consensus Rankings, including each of the top six players at the position.

As invites go out over the next few months after Elite 11 Regionals across the country, we’re tracking the prospects who — barring injury or schedule conflict — will head to Los Angeles in late June and compete for the title of the country’s top quarterback in the 2023 class.
Eli Holstein Scouting Summary
“Productive passer with a well-rounded skill set. Physically developed and filled out, checking in at 6-foot-1.5 and around 215 pounds with a 10-inch hand. Shows a good arm in camp settings and on Friday nights. Excels in the short and intermediate passing game. Able to quickly read defenders’ leverage and deliver accurate passes. Strong in the RPO game. Well-schooled and capable of going through multiple progressions..
…Tests as a strong athlete in the combine setting, particularly in the 40-yard dash and vertical. Plays for a top high school program in Louisiana and helped his team to a state title as a junior. Productive and efficient over the course of the season. Showed the ability to pick up yards with his legs on scrambles and broken plays. Can continue improving on his deep ball and vertical passing. Saw his production and play dip a bit in the state playoffs as a junior. Should make the transition to running a college offense easier than some of his highly-rated peers.” — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings
