Four-Star safety Daeh McCullough announces commitment to Cincinnati .

Four-star safety Daeh McCullough of Bloomington (IN) St. Joseph’s High announced his commitment to Cincinnati Saturday afternoon.

The 6-foot-2, 185 pounder chose the Bearcats over Minnesota and Indiana.

McCullough on why he chose Cincinnati.

“I was born and raised in Cincinnati,” McCullough said. “Also, I have a strong relationship with all of the coaches and no one will develop me more than coach Coombs.”

McCullough’s father, Deland, was formerly the running backs coach at Indiana. He was recently hired for the same position at Notre Dame, and McCullough spoke on if following his father came to mind.

“I did not have any thought of going to Notre Dame,” McCullough said. “I was happy for my dad, but did not have any thought of going.

“I’m honestly close with everyone, but especially with coach Coombs,” McCullough said. “He checks up on me everyday, and we just have natural conversations that build our relationship more.”

He joins coach Luke Fickell and the Bearcats No. 33 class in the On3 Consensus 2023 team rankings, alongside Trevor Carter, Braedyn Moore, and others.

McCullough Scouting Summary

“Daeh McCullough is a big defensive back with very good size and length for the position,” On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote. “He’s mainly worked at corner to this point in his career but has the stature to end up as a safety at the next level. He was over 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds with a 6-foot-5 wing-span prior to his junior season. Given how big his frame is, it’s possible he’s not done filling out.”

“The coverage reps and skills he’s developed at corner would help with that transition as well. McCullough is technically refined and plays with some physicality. He’ll need to continue improving his top-end play speed.”

He ranks as the No. 208 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally-weighted industry generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting services. The 2023 prospect also tabs in at the No. 16 safety and the No. 3 player in the state of Indiana.
