Four-star SF Aidan Shaw decommits from Missouri
The dominoes have started to fall for Mizzou. Four-star Tigers’ signee Aidan Shaw — Missouri’s highest-ranked recruit in five years — will reopen his recruitment, following the firing of the men’s head basketball coach, Cuonzo Martin.
Shaw requested to be released from his National Letter of Intent on Friday, received it Wednesday night, and now his recruitment is officially back up and running.
This isn’t the first ‘departure’ from Missouri, as freshman guard Anton Brookshire announced he would be transferring from the program on Monday. Another freshman, Sean Durugordon announced he’d also be transferring in January.
The Tigers still retain Christian Jones, Mizzou’s now lone signee in the 2022 class.
Shaw committed to Mizzou in September before signing in the early period of November. He chose the Tigers over a final group of Kansas, Oklahoma State, Iowa, Maryland, and Arkansas.

The 6-foot-8 small forward out of Stilwell (Kan.) Blue Valley is ranked as the No. 52 overall prospect in the class of 2022. He was the Tigers’ highest-ranked prospect in the last five recruiting classes.
The last time the Tigers landed a prospect of Shaw’s caliber was in 2017 after landing a top-5 recruiting class, highlighted by Michael Porter Jr., his brother, Jontay, and a top-50 big man in Jeremiah Tilmon.
Statement from Shaw
Aidan Shaw sent the following statement to On3 regarding his decommitment:
Thank you Mizzou, the coaching staff, team, and fan base for all the love I have received throughout my recruitment process. Due to recent events and with the support of my family, I have requested and received my release from the University of Missouri in order to reopen my recruitment.
