Four-Star WR Malachi Riley Reacts to Recent Texas A&M Offer

2023 Corona (Cali.) Centennial wide receiver Malachi Riley helped lead Pro Way Platinum to an 8-0 True Buzz Battle Dallas Championship on Sunday, earning Offensive MVP honors along the way. Ahead of the dominant performance in the weekend tournament, Riley and his team visited Texas A&M, where Riley earned an offer from the Aggies

“I was excited,” he said of the offer. “With them coming off the number one recruiting class…Not saying I didn’t expect it but it was just crazy to me. Last time I was in College Station was my freshman year so to come back down and get the offer was just amazing.”

Riley was offered by wide receivers coach Dameyune Craig while on campus and has known Craig since he first visited as a freshman. Leaving the state of Texas with a championship and A&M offer in hand, he’s excited to keep building his relationship with the Texas A&M coaching staff in the coming months.

The offer puts the Aggies firmly in Riley’s top five. For the junior, “everything” stands out about Texas A&M.

“The coaching staff, the offense they run, just everything,” he said. “Playing in the SEC, it doesn’t get any bigger than that.”

In his second visit in just over three years, the 6-foot, 160lb wideout has loved what Texas A&M and College Station have to offer. This time around, he was able to see more of the campus and facilities and talk with the coaching staff more in-depth.

Thanks to the 7-on-7 circuit, the state of Texas has become “like a second home” for Riley who’s now quite familiar with the state.

He’s hoping to make a return trip in the near future with his family to see College Station again, as well as making it out to Baylor, another school in the state of Texas he’s interested in. He’s not set on when the return visit could happen, noting that it could happen as soon as next month or later in the summer.

Outside of Texas A&M, the aforementioned Baylor Bears are standing out to the four-star along with Arizona, Washington, Oregon, UCLA and more. Texas and Utah are two schools to keep an eye on if they were to offer.

He’s not looking to make a decision anytime soon, noting that especially after landing the offer from the Aggies, he wants to take his time and not rush into anything.

“It’s no time limit, I’m not rushing anything,” he said. “I’m taking everything slow for sure.”
