Fox’s early morning college football kickoff show has named its host location for next week. The Big Noon Kickoff will be live from Waco TX, the home of the Baylor bears. The bears are set to take on the Oklahoma Sooners next weekend in a critical match up for the Big 12. Baylor did lose earlier this Saturday and a close one to rival TCU, but there is still plenty at stake for both teams come next weekend.

The Oklahoma Sooners are number one in the Big 12 conference with a 9-0 overall record, and 6-0 in conference play. This week is the Sooners’ bye week, so they should be well-rested for their match up next Saturday. Oklahoma survived multiple scares in the first half of the season winning all but one game by seven points or fewer. But after making the switch to freshman quarterback Caleb Williams in the middle of the Red River Shootout, the Sooners have looked like a different team.

For Baylor, they have been one of the surprise teams of the Big 12 this year. Like the Sooners, they also have a come-from-behind victory against the Texas Longhorns. Before today’s upset defeat at the hands of the horned frogs 30-28, Baylor only had one loss on the season, and that is to a one-loss Oklahoma State team.
For Oklahoma, a win next Saturday gets them one step closer to the Big 12 championship game and continues on their quest for a perfect season. And for Baylor, a win for them keeps their Big 12 championship hopes alive and throws the conference into chaos.

Brady Quinn on CFP rankings vs AP rankings

Former Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn was on the Dan Patrick Show on Friday to talk all things college football-related. One of the big things Patrick asked Quinn was if he took issue with the first College Football Playoff rankings of the season. And the former fighting Irish signal-caller gave a very unique perspective on the rankings.

“I didn’t have a problem with it and it was really for this reason,” said Quinn to open. “I think so many people who are outraged by it they were manipulated by The Associated Press poll, the AP poll. Which here’s the truth, we gave away the power to this college football committee seven years, ago back in 2014. So if you wanted to buy into where people who ranked preseason polls and throughout the season up until the point, before the committee actually came out with their first poll, that’s on you.”

Was Oklahoma disrespected in the CFP rankings?

Many Sooners fans were not happy with their team’s position in the first College Football Playoffs rankings. In the AP poll, that tanks teams all season long, the Sooners were sitting at No.4. But in the CFP rankings, Oklahoma was No. 8. Oklahoma is an undefeated Power-5 school but was ranked behind four one-loss teams, with two of them in the top four.

“Like you are putting your stock and weight in something that doesn’t matter. like I’m sorry it just hasn’t mattered since we’ve gotten the College Football Playoff and since we’ve anointed a 13 person committee. So I wasn’t really taken back by it, it was really more what I thought it was gonna be because we’ve seen throughout its history at this point a season they rely on the eye test and factoring in essentially strength of schedule and who you beat not who you’ve lost to.”
