There are 33 undefeated teams remaining in college football as we head into week 4 of the season. All of these teams are in various conferences and playing varying levels of competition, which makes it challenging to compare them all, especially so early in the season. FOX college football analyst Joel Klatt was asked by a fan on his show Breaking the Huddle if any team had a more impressive three game resume right now than Penn State.

The Nittany Lions are currently ranked No. 14, and started off the season with a comeback, conference win on the road against Purdue. They followed it up with an effortless home victory over Ohio before their most recent road rout over Auburn, defeating the Tigers 45-12.

Penn State has looked good, especially behind the freshman phenom running back Nick Singleton. Klatt acknowledged Penn State’s impressive three-game resume, but threw another team into the conversation than many may not have expected.

“Two road wins, Purdue, at Auburn, I get it,” Klatt said referring to Penn State. “I’m gonna throw out there, and we just talked to their head coach, how about Kansas?” Klatt asked. “Two road wins as well, one against West Virginia, a team that’s not bad in the Big 12, and then they went into the AAC favorite Houston, beat them by 18.”

The Jayhawks have gotten off to an impressive start, opening up the season 3-0 for the first time since 2009. Their offense has been electric, led by dual-threat quarterback Jalon Daniels who through three games has thrown for 566 yards and seven touchdowns, and is also the teams leading rusher, with 237 yards on the ground and three rushing touchdowns.

Kansas takes on another unexpected undefeated team this week in Duke at home, and Klatt believes that if they secure a win over the Blue Devils, they deserve to be ranked.

“You can’t argue with that, I think they should’ve been ranked, come on AP voters do it. If Kansas beats Duke, do it, rank the Jayhawks, do the right thing,” Klatt said.

Regardless of who wins the Kansas vs Duke matchup, which would historically be regarded more as a headlining basketball matchup, it will be interesting to see where the winner stands in the AP Poll. There are various other unbeaten teams like Florida State, North Carolina, Minnesota, and others looking to break into the top 25, and a few of them may be able to do so after a week 4 win this weekend.
