Fox Sports' 'Club Heisman' breaks down Heisman Trophy leaders
Fox Sports assembled its ‘Club Heisman’ crew in Ann Arbor, Michigan to discuss college football’s top candidates to take home the Heisman Trophy this season. Former USC Trojans and Heisman Trophy winners Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush were joined by college football’s only defensive Heisman winner Charles Woodson.
‘Club Heisman’ gathered during a segment of Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff to break down their picks, with analysis from former winners. With two industry favorites separating themselves from the field, each analyst picked his favorite to discuss, with some surprise honorable mentions.
Matt Leinart names Heisman favorite
“I think he’s been the most consistent player all season long,” said Matt Leinart. “The poise, the composure in these big moments – plus he plays in the SEC – he’s just been fantastic. … he’s my leader right now in the pack.”
He continued: “I think another one is Kenny Pickett from Pitt. This guy has been unbelievable, he’s probably done more with less than any quarterback – any player – in college football. I think he’ll be in New York, but I think he deserves to be in New York and be in consideration.
Reggie Bush watching CJ Stroud
“(CJ Stroud) has a big opportunity to go out today and further his name in this Heisman race,” said Bush. “We’ll see if he gets it done. He might have the best weapons in college football… but they do have to get through this Michigan defense.”

Charles Woodson makes surprise pick
“I’ll go on the other side of the ball,” said Woodson. “We talk about big games, we’ve got a young man on defense for the University of Michigan that can go out here and make a statement today. His name is Aidan Hutchinson. I see how you look at me, but we’ve got to give big men some love.”
Woodson also weighed in on the two conventional candidates, giving his opinion on the importance of this week.
“For me, I just talk about both of these guys,” said Woodson. “I think you hit it on the head with Bryce Young and his composure in the pocket… he’s got a quick release on his throw. And then when you talk about CJ Stroud, you talk about the accuracy of him. This is a statement game for both of these quarterbacks. This is a game where you say, ‘you know what? That’s why I won the Heisman.’ You know what play and what game won you that Heisman… so that’s where we’re at today. One of these guys is gonna come up big.
