Freddie Dilione says he talks daily to VCU, Seton Hall, Texas A&M
Freddie Dilione is On3’s No. 60 ranked player in the 2023 class.
“I’m very smooth and crafty,” Dilione told On3. “I love to come off ball screens, and I can shoot the ball or get my teammates involved. I like to watch a lot of Kevin Durant, how he moves and gets to his spots and shoots over people.”
The 6-foot-6 shooting guard has been the talk of the Adidas 3SSB Circuit. Playing with Team Loaded NC, the Fayetteville, North Carolina native has put on one scoring display after another. On3 caught up with Freddie Dilione after one such output to get an idea of where his recruitment stood. (editor’s note – Dilione was offered by Minnesota, Indiana, and Alabama after this event)
“I have talked to Wake Forest a lot,” Dilione said. “I have day-to-day contact with VCU, Seton Hall, and Texas A&M. Georgia just texted me. I am not sure about visits yet. I know I want to go on some. VCU will surely get one. Seton Hall wants me to come down there. Tennessee, and Wake Forest too, and I want to see Texas.”
Dilione talks recruitment
VCU: “I know every coach on their staff. I know all of their first and last names. If I know every coach’s first name and last name on staff, you show me love. They show a lot of love, a lot. They use a lot of ball screens and told me they’re going to let me rock out.”
Tennessee: “Coach (Justin) Gainey has been talking to me a lot, recruiting me pretty good. They play fast, and they like to get the ball up and down the court. Their guards also get drafted.”
Texas: “I want to get out there and see them. I saw Coach (Chris) Beard out here watching me today. They have not offered yet, but they send me little graphics and tell me how they want me to come to play for them.”
Wake Forest: “Coach BJ (McKie) has been at most of my games. Even when I get hurt, he still stays for the game and watches. I noticed that because some of the coaches left. I saw who stayed around.”

Texas A&M: “They are keeping in constant contact with me. I want to go out there and show them the love back.”
Seton Hall: “The coach has been really in tune with me. They are recruiting me hard. Their coach has been at all my games so far, and they stay in contact.”
Dilione’s take
“I will be paying close attention to the coaching staff,” Dilione said. “How they coach and how they talk with their players; really just a family. I want to go to a winning program and place with nice facilities. I want to look at how much time they spend investing in their players and the team. It’s the little things.”
On3’s take
Freddie Dilione is a confident bucket getter. He has good positional size with lengthy arms and broad shoulders. He is comfortable on the ball. Dilione is naturally an off-guard, secondary ball-handler, although he has shown he can be a primary ball-handler in pick and roll type situations. The reads are the question, decisively getting to his spots and scoring off the ball. Dilione is a good straight-line athlete, and his confidence and ability to score on the ball are notable.
