Head coach Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles are off to a slow 0-3 start this season. On top of that, there are now several injuries that FSU is dealing with, including to key players like Shyheim Brown, Cam Riley, and Jeremiah Byers.

Amid the team’s struggles, the offensive line hasn’t played as well as it needs to play. That’s in part due to those injuries along the FSU offensive line like Jeremiah Byers and Darius Washington. For Norvell, the Seminoles need to see how those two progress going into Week 4.

“With the tackles, promising that we could get one if not both,” Mike Norvell said. “I say both, JB we’ll see how that’s gonna progress through the week. Darius, that was something that happened in pregame, kind of unexpected. We’ll see where that goes as the week kind of progresses.”

Norvell went on to attribute the offensive line’s issues to a variety of issues, including communication and identification before the snap. He also emphasized that the entire unit needs to be more consistent. A healthy offensive line unit would help to correct those issues. So, getting those guys healthy is going to be vital for FSU.

Luckily for FSU, in the case of Shyheim Brown, it looks like the Seminoles are going to have their veteran defensive back healthy by Week 4.

“Expecting Shyheim to be available this week,” Norvell said.

Mike Norvell went on to admit that there are a couple of other players, namely linebacker Cam Riley and wide receiver Jalen Brown, who are going to be more of a wait-and-see situation as far as it relates to their health.

“When it comes to Cam and Jalen, we’ll see how they progress throughout the course of the week. Both those guys went down there pretty early in the game,” Norvell said.

“It was a game where we had different guys have to step up due to injuries and obviously that experience is valuable for them to be able to go out there and be able to get those reps and to build their confidence and what they can do and also see some of the areas where they’ve got to be able to improve, but we’ll see how those guys progress as the week goes on.”

Week 4 will see the Florida State Seminoles will host the California Golden Bears. That will be FSU’s third game in the ACC this season and it will be Cal’s first ever as a member of the conference.
