Once the College World Series begins, it will be just like a traditional regional format. The eight teams in Omaha will be split into two different brackets. From there, in each bracket the winners of the opening games will face off in the winners bracket, while the losers will look to stave off elimination in the losers bracket. The opening weekend of the College World Series will be double elimination, and the two teams to advance out of their respective brackets will advance to the championship round.

Once there are two teams remaining, they will face off in a best-of-three series to determine the winner of this year’s national championship. The first team to pick up two victories over that series will secure a title.
