Gehrig Normand ended the spring as one of the biggest risers in the 2023 cycle. The 6-foot-5 athletic shotmaker from the Lone Star State has locked in two official visits this month.

The On3 Consensus No. 112-ranked prospect in the 2023 cycle will make an official visit to Missouri June 13-14.

Normand will head to Big 10 country the following weekend. Wisconsin will get Normand on campus for an official visit June 20-21.

Tennessee is another possibility for an official visit prior to a decision.

Texas is the main competition for Missouri and Wisconsin

A May 16 offer from the University of Texas during following an unofficial visit was a big one for Normand having grown up a fan of Chris Beard.

“I’ve watched Coach Beard’s teams from his time at Texas Tech,” Normand said. “My neighbor Andrew was on the Texas Tech team that played for the National Championship. He was a walk on. Being able to talk to coach Beard for a while was cool. We are similar. Both of us have chips on our shoulder, started from the bottom and have worked to get to where we are.”

Beard’s message was a simple one. Stay home.

“His approach was to stay home,” Normand said. “The T.J. Ford approach. T.J. Ford started the staying home in Texas, and for Texas. Coach Beard said if I stay home, it would be great for brand marketing.”

June 27 is a likely official visit date for the Texas Longhorns.

Normand averaged 12 points, 8.0 rebounds and seven assists as a junior for Birdville. His younger brother is an up and coming 2025 quarterback at Birdville, Noah Normand. Normand’s father played football at Kansas State for Bill Snyder.
