George Turkson is the No. 103 player in the 2024 On3 Consensus. The 6-foot-8 forward made his name around his defensive prowess, however, his offensive game continues to expand and become more comfortable.

“Defensively, I’m a defensive outlet,” Turkson told On3. “I’m communicating and always there for my teammates. I’m expanding my game, getting out and shooting more threes, and becoming more versatile on the offensive end. I watch a lot of Kawhai (Leonard) and Jimmy Butler, defensive first guys who have expanded their offensive game.”

On3 caught up with George Turkson to talk about visits and get an update on his recruitment.

Turkson talks visits

“I’ve been on an official visit to Texas A&M,” Turkson said. “I’ve also been on unofficial to Providence and Rutgers.”

Texas A&M: “They were watching me during AAU, and they liked how I played. When I went there, I got to see the genuine love the coaches had for the players. The environment around campus and around the team was great. They play how I play with the defensive and offensive philosophies that they have. They play fast, they defend as a team. It was all great and is definitely one of the schools I’m really serious about.”

Unofficials

Providence: “They’re a tough team. They are playing really well this season, ranked again, and their coaches have been to a lot of our games. I’m definitely looking into them closely and want to get back to campus.”

Rutgers: “They have been really good this season as well. They’re a fun team to watch. Their coaches are really engaging; even during practice, their coaches are on the floor, breaking a sweat and being involved. It’s all fun, and they’re all about development and getting their guys ready.”

In Turkson’s words

“I’m going to be looking for a team that is going to help me continue to develop,” Turkson said. “I want a school that has the right academics that I am looking for. I don’t have a specific major I’m looking at yet, but it’ll be something around the sciences.

“I’ll want to play for a coach who is invested in me and will develop me to be ready to play in college and beyond.”
