Four-star guard George Washington, III has de-committed from Ohio State. The 6-foot-2 guard, originally from Louisville, Kentucky, makes the announcement coming off a weekend visit to campus. Washington, III was Ohio State’s first commitment in the 2023 class.

Washington averaged 9.0 points and 0.8 rebounds through six Peach Jam games while shooting 34 percent from the field and 27.8 percent from three. He dished out one assist for every two turnovers. Washington is ranked No. 135 in On3’s 2023 rankings.

Washington’s father is an assistant women’s basketball coach at Dayton.

With Washington looking elsewhere, this gives the Buckeyes one scholarship to give. This past weekend, Ohio State had two uncommitted four-star guards on campus in Taison Chatman and Bronny James.

Bronny James is No. 38 in On3’s 2023 rankings. He carries public offers from Southern California and Memphis. The status of James’ Ohio State visit this past weekend is unknown, whether it was official or unofficial, but we do know he spent multiple hours on campus.
