Georgetown transfer forward Drew Fielder decommits from USC, signs with Boise State

USC thought they were getting one of the top forwards in the NCAA transfer portal this offseason. Drew Fielder announced he would play under head coach Eric Musselman during the 2024-2025 season, heading to Los Angeles via Georgetown. But plans have apparently changed for Fielder.
According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Fielder has decommitted from USC. He has instead signed with the Boise State Broncos, ending his transfer portal recruitment. A big get for head coach Leon Rice, stealing Fielder away from a power conference foe.
The past two seasons for Fielder playing at Georgetown, making 63 appearances with the Hoyas. He has averaged 6.1 points (47.2% FG) and 4.2 rebounds per game in that career there. That includes stats of 7.1 points (46.3% FG) and 5.4 rebounds this past season as a sophomore as he was their starting center.
Fielder played high school basketball at So Cal Academy in Los Angeles CA, where he was a four-star prospect, but is originally from Meridian, ID. He was the No. 112 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Boise State is able to bring home one of their in-state products. The hope is to get back into the NCAA Tournament next season after recently breaking a three-year streak.
