Tustin (Calif.) Mission Viejo four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford committed to Georgia in November over Ole Miss, Nebraska, Arizona and dozens of other offers.

One school not heavily involved in his recruitment at the time was USC, which is about an hour up the road from his high school. The Trojans offered earlier this month, and now he has set a visit up to Los Angeles for February 1, he announced Sunday on Twitter.

It will be his first known visit with the Trojans, who are looking to bolster their wide receiver room in 2026.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder was one of the Golden State’s top pass-catchers in 2024, hauling in 57 passes for 1,017 yards and 14 touchdowns. That followed up a massive sophomore campaign, where he led Mission Viejo with 83 catches, 1.576 receiving yards and 22 scores.

He is one of the nation’s best wideouts in the 2026 class, ranking as the No. 76 prospect and No. 13 WR in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Spafford will likely be a tough flip from the Bulldogs

Despite never having visited Athens before, Spafford went in October and was blown away by what he saw. Less than a month later, he was committed.

“Like they say, when you know, you know,” Spafford told On3’s Chad Simmons at the time. “I definitely felt it right after we left the facility to go home from Georgia. I wanted to take my time because I didn’t want to just react off of emotion. I just wanted to make sure. And my feelings kept stable for about three weeks and I was ready to make the move.”

He even surprised himself with the early decision, but he loves what he sees in UGA’s program and the championship culture.

“I’m definitely surprised I committed this early,” Spafford added to Simmons. “The goal was to commit around June 20-23 next year, but things change. I always said, if it feels like home, then there’s always a possibility. Georgia felt like home. I’m definitely surprised that I felt this way and have committed this early, but I’m happy it’s happening.”

The Trojans will look to make a dent next weekend in that commitment.
