The AlabamaGeorgia matchup is another day closer, and the injury picture for both teams is just a little bit clearer. And that includes some major players for the Bulldogs, especially.

Notably, offensive lineman Tate Ratledge continues to recover from tightrope surgery on his left leg/ankle that he had during Georgia’s week off. He’s unlikely to play this week, but his status will be closely followed.

The Crimson Tide also got some welcome injury news this week, as head coach Kalen DeBoer shared a positive update on defensive back Malachi Moore.

On the Wednesday evening version of the Hey Coach! Show with Kalen DeBoer, the Tide head coach updated his status.

“He’ll be back. He’ll be back. I know what you were saying. He left the game vs. Wisconsin. So, good question. He’s been out there working. I can tell just by how you’re asking with a passion you asked the question with. That you understand how important Malachi is to our success,” DeBoer said.

DeBoer also explained how important Moore is to this Alabama team.

“You know, it’s not just defensively but it’s our whole team. He just brings that great energy and great vibe to us. He’s one of those guys that, not to go way back, but one of those guys that really set the direction for us back in even January, February, when we were really trying to keep the whole thing together. So, he’s a captain for a reason,” DeBoer said..

Georgia is also managing some defensive injuries, namely to star edge rusher Mykel Williams, as well as defensive lineman Warren Brinson.

As of Tuesday, head coach Kirby Smart wasn’t making formal declarations of their respective statuses for the weekend, but did share some encouraging updates. And with game day bearing down, both Brinson and Williams are in varying stages of their recoveries.

“Warren’s continued to practice, taking his rep load,” Smart said on Tuesday. “Mykel’s been able to do a little bit. I still don’t know timeline on Mykel. He’s looked good running and taking some reps, some light reps, some rush reps, some stuff he did today — it was his first day really getting out there and doing some things.”

Williams, for his part, is one of the top defenders in the country and considered one of the top draft prospects not only at edge rusher, but in the entire class. He’s been out since leaving Georgia’s Week 1 win with a Grade 2 ankle sprain.
