Jackson McVey, a three-star center in the 2025 class, has committed to Georgia and head coach Mike White, he told On3.

The 7-1 senior out of Overtime Elite (GA) chose the Bulldogs over offers from Georgia Tech, Florida, Stanford, and Florida State.

McVey is the No. 217 overall recruit in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s also the No. 23 center prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

McVey on his commitment to UGA

Jackson McVey went discussed his decision with On3.

“I chose UGA because they showed that they wanted me the most throughout the recruitment process, and also showed they had a need for a player like me, whereas other great programs already had someone similar. They adopted a new offense with Asa (Newell) and Somto (Cyril) with 2 bigs that they plan to carry out next year that I love. They have enough versatility and inside out in their offense to put my game on display. All of these things on top of getting to rep my home state and grow in front of the people I love made it an easy choice.”

What led to his trust in coach White?

“Coach White has been very honest throughout the process but consistent and I love that. He has a competitive system that rewards those who put the most into his program, narratives aside, and I love that. His staff has also been very friendly and everyone down to the weight coach has been in contact. Even the AD of Georgia has been in contact with me which is something I hadn’t had elsewhere so it just felt like a family.”

In his own words, what type of player is UGA getting in Jackson McVey?

“I would say I’m a new-gen versatile big, who has a defensive presence in the paint and I can definitely stretch the floor, post up and drive on offense. I think with the right development with my size and base skills I have a high ceiling if I keep working. I also think I move well, have good footwork, hands and passing for someone of my size.”

He has a message for Georgia fans.

“I want UGA fans to know that I’m here to do nothing but win the next few years and hopefully spark the beginning of a new era for Georgia with my class of commits. I want to work and do everything I can for the success of the program.”
